In today's message, Pastor J shared how easily we hear that something needs to change and keep putting it off—until we're back in the same position hearing the same news. That's where Israel stood on Mount Carmel, and where a lot of us live spiritually: knowing what God desires and not getting started.
In this fifth message of our Elijah series, we reached the highest point yet—where Elijah's faith and God's power are on full display. One prophet stood against 450 prophets of Baal—one altar, one God, one fire. Pastor J drew out four things that have no place in God's victory circle: compromise, the limping between God and convenience; empty false gods, the careers, comforts, and approval we bleed for that go silent; broken altars, the prayer lives and family worship that need rebuilding before we ask God to move; and unanswered prayer, which the first three always produce.
Elijah poured the water to prove Yahweh was the only living God on the mountain. Elijah's part wasn't to produce the fire—it was to cry out to God and trust He would. And KBC—small in the eyes of the world—stands in the same place. When the fire fell, Israel needed no program and no campaign. Pastor J invites the congregation to follow Elijah's example and the Israelites' response: step out in faith and declare, "The Lord, He is God."
