Dear KBC Ohana,
 
As many of you know, Hurricane Lala is passing to the south of the islands. The Big Island is bearing the brunt of it, and while Lala is expected to weaken and stay south of us, Oahu remains under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Flood Watch through Sunday night, with heavy rain and the possibility of flash flooding and ponding on roads.
 
We want you to hear this clearly from the elders: your safety comes first. Please err on the side of caution when deciding whether to travel to church tomorrow. If the roads near you are flooded, if conditions look dangerous, or if you simply don't have peace about being out in the weather, we want you to stay home. Staying safe and caring for your household is not staying away from worship — it is an act of wisdom and love, and no one should feel any pressure to be here.
 
Lord willing, we do plan to gather for our normal service. A few of us live close by and will be here. For everyone worshiping from home, we hope to have our livestream available so you can join us. (We'll do our best, though we'd ask for your grace if the weather affects our connection.)
 
Please also take a moment to check on your neighbors, especially those who are older or live alone, and to keep our whole church family in prayer through this storm.
 
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1). Whether you gather with us in the building tomorrow or worship from your living room, the Lord is near, and He watches over His people.
 
Stay safe, stay dry, and let's take good care of one another.
