Until January, 2002, Jim (yes, you can just call him by his first name) and his wife, Anna, have been bouncing all around the earth, following God’s leading for their lives. Originally from the Midwest, they moved with their family to Hong Kong in 1978 and lived there until 1993. They then did a stint in Iowa that lasted eight years before following God’s leading to Kapahulu Bible Church. Jim is an avid runner and has completed two Honolulu Marathons. Jim and Anna have four children and seven grand-children.

Q. How long have you been attending KBC?

A. 9 years, 5 months, 26 days (as of 6/28/11).

Q. Reason for serving at KBC?

A. God has called me to KBC to shepherd the people of KBC, to preach and teach the Word of God and to lead KBC in spreading the message of Jesus throughout our local and global community.

Q. Favorite Book of the Bible  Why?

A. The Book of Psalms is my favorite book of the Bible because it leads me into God’s presence where I can worship Him and seek His face.

Q. How did you become a Christian?

A. God used the death of my parents as a child to make me aware of how totally lost I am without Him. I accepted Christ into my life when I was 8 years old at a “tent meeting”. I later recommitted my life to Him at age 14 at a youth conference.

Q. Favorite Scripture?

A. This is a hard one.  There are so many promises in the Scriptures that sustain me from day to day.  But Mark 12:30 (“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” NIV) is the Scripture that has become core motivator of my life.

Q. Favorite Food?

A. Thai food.  I also really like oatmeal raisin cookies.

Q. What are your passions?

A. My biggest passion is participating in the task of taking the Gospel to the unreached people groups of the world.  I also love running.

Q. What is the most rewarding part of your ministry?

A. The most rewarding part of my ministry is helping people discover God’s calling on their lives and then helping them prepare to carry out that calling.
